Colonia del Sacramento has a rich history, beautiful architecture and interesting culture. It is unspoilt and looks charming. The cobblestone streets are very iconic. They are the most original streets dating back to the 17th century which are lined with houses from the colonial period. The city was originally founded by Portuguese, but the city was taken over by Spaniards and British for a short period and finally by Portuguese again. I found five to six  

hours, is perfectly enough to explore the best things and most interesting sights the place has to offer. During this period, I was able to walk the historical centre, discover hidden cobblestone alleyways, buy souvenirs and drink coffee. Although it is probably not a notable sight according to the guidebooks, but I really liked and found the place perfect for chill out before heading back home after one month’s physically intensive expedition to sub-Antarctic & Antarctic area.
