The Riviera Maya is one of the top destinations in the world for beaches of fine white sand, crystalline turquoise blue waters, majestic archaeological sites, as well as natural parks and other attractions. It is a long stretch of approximately 100 miles along the Caribbean coast of Mexico, running just south of Cancun to Tulum and beyond. This area once was an important commercial and religious centre for the ancient Maya. It is now a tourism and resort district, and is subsequently more laid back compared to Cancun.

In the Riviera Maya one can enjoy exciting and entertaining activities, for instance jet-skiingsnorkellingscuba divingswimming with dolphins, and sailing, underwater caverns, and lagoons. One can zipline ones way through the jungle canopy feeling like a true Tarzan – and screaming on a zipwire is in itself a very exciting experience too. Of all the possible excursions in Riviera Maya, snorkelling or floating in a cenote would be my top pick. We were here on a family holiday for a week.
