A Night Out with Andre Rieu and His Johann Strauss Orchestra

London is a city that loves music. From world-famous venues like the O2 Arena to intimate concert halls like the Wigmore Hall, there is something for everyone in London’s vibrant music scene. One iconic live music venue in London is Ovo Arena Wembley. With a capacity of 12,500, the Ovo Arena Wembley is a popular venue for concerts, sporting events, and other large-scale events. In 2023, two-time Garammy Award-winning violinist and conductor Andre Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra performed at the Ovo Arena Wembley. The concert was a sell out, and audiences were treated to a two-hour extravaganza of classical music, waltzes, and operettas. Rieu’s charisma and showmanship were on full display. The concert was a truly unforgettable experience, and it left audiences wanting more. I was fortunate enough to attend concerts in 2013 & 2023 and was blown away by the performances. Rieu and his orchestra are simply incredible musicians who bring a level of joy and excitement to their music that is unmatched.

IWA Canalway Cavalcade: A Waterways Celebration in London

On 1st May 2023, I had the opportunity to visit the IWA Canalway Cavalcade, a colourful and lively festival that showcases the beauty and diversity of London’s waterways. The event, which celebrated its 40th anniversary this year, took place in Little Venice, a charming area where the Grand Union and Regent’s canals meet. The festival featured more than 120 boats of various types and sizes, from narrow boats to modern cruisers, all decorated with flags, lights and flowers. Some of the boats offered rides, food or entertainment to the visitors. The festival also had plenty of activities and attractions on land, such as live music, craft stalls, a real ale bar, a teddy bears’ picnic and a Punch & Judy show. The IWA Canalway Cavalcade was a fun and educational experience for me. It was a great way to discover a different side of London and to appreciate the value and beauty of its waterways.
