Day 22 Morning

Early next morning, after picking up the campers, we sailed to beautiful Danco Island. It was my 22nd day. Various activities were on offer for the day. There was one group Kayak Adventure Group, enjoyed kayaking; I opted to hike up to the peak of the Danco Island which is a 180-meter peak-it’s more difficult when you’ve all the Antarctica gear on and carrying additional camera gear.

I decided not to carry the heavy cameras. There are 1700 pairs of breeding gentoo penguins & they nest right up to the summit of Danco. Danco is spectacular, it is a sight you can’t get anywhere in the world. The mountains are right there surrounding you; the icebergs are right below you and the air is so pure. I snapped as many photos as I could, but I couldn’t really do the scene true justice. The area is also a hotspot for Minke and Humpback whales.
